As one of the first round lights from XAL, VELA has already established itself as a classic and impresses with its timeless design and continuous technical development. With its flat, minimalist design, VELA blends smoothly into a variety of room concepts – as a surface or suspended version. Available with microprismatic cover for lighting suitable for workplaces or opal cover for balanced ambient lighting. VELA is available in various sizes and colours. There are also different light colours, including tunable white, as well as a version with direct and indirect light.
Inner values count
The timeless design of VELA remains up to date for years, while the technology behind it is constantly evolving. With specially developed LED conversion kits, VELA can be updated in a matter of minutes. Instead of replacing the entire light fitting, only the inner workings need to be replaced. This saves valuable materials and resources, reduces electricity consumption in the long term and ensures sustainable building renovations.

Time is precious – especially during installation. That’s why VELA is designed to be quick, easy and simple to install. The mounting plate is attached to the ceiling, then the lighting fixture can be clicked into place in just a few seconds by simply sliding it – for efficient installation in next to no time.

Colours influence spaces – they create atmosphere, set accents or blend into the overall design with deliberate restraint. VELA is therefore available in a wide range of colours. As well as the elegant standard colours of white, black and grey, we also offer a wide range of colours from our special colour chart. This means that you can have VELA in exactly the colour that perfectly complements the design of your space.
Natural light feeling
VELA is more than simply light – it shapes the atmosphere. With direct light to illuminate functional areas and optional indirect light for soft ceiling illumination, a balanced, atmospheric appearance is created that brings architecture to life. Thanks to tunable white (2700 K–6500 K), the light colour can be dynamically adjusted – from cool daytime brightness, which promotes concentration and activity, to soft, warm tones that usher in the evening and invite you to relax. This allows VELA to accompany the natural rhythm of the day and create an environment in which people feel comfortable – at any time of day or night.

From the get-go, the focus was to use light to create the best possible learning, teaching, and working environment. This requires flexibility and adaptability to match the right light with the right situation and the right task. The school welcomes kids from 3 to 18 years old, as well as adults of all ages, so it needed to be super-easy to adjust the colour temperature and intensity quickly and intuitively to best support the various activities. Installation should also be flexible, both for the current use and to adapt to future applications.
