Lighting for workplaces

Maximum visual comfort for varying tasks

Good workplace lighting is oriented towards people. Proper work lighting considers both employee needs and key lighting standards. A modern workplace-lighting system fulfils multiple requirements simultaneously. Smart-sensor technology dynamically adjusts the light to the room’s use or the ambient brightness, while Tunable White luminaires also change their light colour over the course of the day.

Standard-compliant and versatile

For the lighting design, it is important which visual task is being performed at the individual workplace. Are plans being drawn or is data being edited on a computer? The more precision is needed, the higher the illuminance must be. For reading and writing, DIN EN12464-1 requires at least 500 lux at the workplace, and older employees often need even more. It is also essential that the luminaires have incredibly good glare control. The guideline value for computer workplaces is UGR≤19. There is great freedom in design beyond the essential standards for workplace lighting. A successful LED lighting concept at desks and workplaces has lasting positive effects. It increases concentration as well as our well-being.

Current developments in acoustic lighting

The acoustic conditions in a space have a considerable influence on productivity, health, and general well-being. Acoustic lighting design ensures that open exchange, speech intelligibility, and concentration do not get in each other's way. The transdisciplinary design studio 13&9 explains what is important here.
