The Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence (IPAI) in Heilbronn is a flagship project for applied artificial intelligence. IPAI’s aim was to create a state-of-the-art co-working office with around 200 workstations that offers companies from the AI sector an inspiring working environment. At the same time, a visitor centre was to be created to bring artificial intelligence to life and convey the fascination of this technology. From the outset, it was important that structures could develop freely and not be limited by a predetermined, classic office architecture.
The interior design concept of IPAI Spaces specifically promotes interdisciplinary exchange and innovative working methods. Elements of the IPAI corporate design and the round campus structure are reflected in the interior design, with soft shapes and a harmonious colour scheme of warm pastel tones. Sustainable materials such as natural rubber flooring and recyclable carpet tiles divide the space into zones and ensure comfort.
The industrial character of the open concrete ceiling is balanced by acoustic elements, linear luminaires and flexible curtains. Modular furniture enables flexible use, while think tanks and telephone booths create retreats for focused work. In addition to an inviting café, the concept also includes spacious lounge areas and versatile spaces for events and workshops.
The lighting had to fulfil two central functions: On the one hand, it was to provide orientation in the central areas, and on the other, it was to be unobtrusively integrated into the acoustic ceilings. The challenge was to find the perfect balance between functional lighting and harmonious integration into the overall concept. With the MINO, both linear and curved, the surfaces could be optimally staged, while at the same time creating a pleasant and inspiring atmosphere.
The customised acoustic cylinders in combination with the SASSO spotlights were specifically placed to ensure both excellent acoustic quality and precise light in the central areas. Thanks to their design language, they integrate seamlessly into the overall design and strengthen the harmonious combination of function and aesthetics.

I find it particularly inspiring to work with different talents and disciplines to develop visual concepts together. I see communication in and across spaces as a central aspect of contemporary interior design.
