Lighting Designer

Career Insight

Stefan designs light with passion. His journey began hands-on: on a ladder, installing luminaires himself. Today, he combines deep technical knowledge with a refined design sensibility. Discover more about Stefan’s career path and his enthusiasm for lighting.

A career shaped by light

As an interior architect in trade fair construction, Stefan once stood on ladders adjusting luminaires and that is where his passion for light began. This direct, practical approach to lighting design has stayed with him ever since. Today, Stefan brings this enthusiasm to his role as Head of Lighting Design at XAL, guiding and inspiring his team with a strong sense for architecture, atmosphere, and detail.

No project like another

As a lighting designer at XAL, Stefan accompanies projects from the first concept to the final lighting calculations. He works closely with the sales team, architects, and long-standing clients – some of whom he has supported for more than 20 years. His design philosophy is clear and minimalistic: as few luminaire types as possible, a consistent visual language, and a concept in which architecture and light are perfectly aligned.

"For me, light is more than technology – it is the medium through which architecture truly comes to life."
