The Michelin-starred Restaurang ÄNG is located in the middle of the idyllic Ästad Vingård wine region in southwestern Sweden. Like a light-flooded greenhouse made of steel and glass, it blends harmoniously into the surrounding nature and combines a contemporary culinary experience with untouched Nordic nature. In collaboration with Norm Architects and the Japanese interior designers from Karimoku, a finely tuned interplay of architecture, interior, pleasure and art was created, which finds its ultimate expression in a 19-course haute cuisine experience.
The special room aesthetics called for a minimalist lighting concept with a warm, calming atmosphere. The aim of Anker & Co was to discreetly illuminate the interior while emphasizing the architectural qualities, without placing the light itself in the foreground. Early involvement in the planning process resulted in a holistic solution in which lighting, architecture and customised furnishings are seamlessly aligned.
A tailor-made ARY suspended solution was used throughout the lounge area on the ground floor and in the dining areas on the ground floor and basement. High colour rendering (CRI > 95) was essential both in the prep kitchen and at the tables, where it brings out the natural colours of the food precisely and attractively. This ensures that the dishes are as visually appealing as they are tasty.

In addition, the aim of the lighting design was to create rooms with an atmosphere that can be specifically controlled by light, with the focus on the well-being of the guests. o achieve the optimal colour temperature and light intensity, ARY was equipped with a bespoke Tunable White range (1800-3000 K). This allows the lighting atmosphere to be flexibly adapted to different times of day and room uses, thus supporting an atmospheric ambience. ÄNG is therefore a place that enables guests and employees alike to experience special moments and create lasting memories.
Michael Anker, Founder and CEO Anker & Co
The fundamental ambition behind the Michelin-starred Restaurang ÄNG is in many ways in line with Norm Architects’ design philosophy of striking a delicate balance between all the sensory experiences that make up a space to create a harmonious setting, where all elements support one another.
