Leading international office design and architecture expert Bene has created fully equipped meeting rooms in the centre of Vienna that both express a clear attitude and reflect today’s dynamic work culture. High-quality furniture by Bene, professional service and an appealing and inviting interior design form the heart of the concept. Lighting that is not only functional but also atmospheric has been a key feature from the outset. It provides structure, creates focus and influences how people feel and interact.
The classic meeting room has been deliberately reinterpreted: each suite is individually designed, architecturally curated and features a distinctive aesthetic and lighting atmosphere. Different design languages – from clean lines to soft curves – meet harmonising colour palettes and high-quality materials. Bespoke lamps highlight the unique character of each space and create atmospheric rooms that promote concentration and support communication. The biggest challenge was to integrate this complex idea into a cohesive overall concept.
Bene’s goal was to create the perfect environment for every meeting scenario – from focused strategy sessions and lively workshops to collaborative exchanges. Lighting is an essential part of this and must adapt to the spaces and the people using them, not the other way around. To achieve this, Bene developed lighting concepts that can be customised as needed while maintaining a distinct and unique atmosphere in each suite.
The strength of the concept’s implementation lies in the combination of technical precision, design quality and near-endless flexibility. Thanks to the vast range of options and the possibility of individual adjustments to the professional lighting design, Bene was able to develop a bespoke solution for each suite. The lights were specifically selected based on their intended use and effect. In the meeting rooms, TASK, BETO circle and MOVE IT 45 ensure a calm and even work light that boosts concentration. In the lounge and breakout areas, the light is designed to create a more powerful atmosphere and to provide orientation. This is achieved with the decorative JANE and the MOVE IT PRO. The lighting is intentionally different in each area – functional in workspaces and more playful in spaces where the focus is on interaction and relaxation. This creates spaces that appear calm, sophisticated and clearly structured – without feeling sterile.
Pia Schumann, Head of Meeting Suites
I draw inspiration from many sources, also beyond traditional interior design. My travels, the hotel industry, gastronomy and cultural venues show me very clearly how atmosphere is created and how strongly light, materials and acoustics influence our behaviour. These experiences are a major influence on my work. But perception and work culture also play a role: how long are people’s attention spans, when do they feel comfortable, and when do they feel overwhelmed? These questions shape my thought process, as do architecture and design. Ultimately, it’s always about creating spaces that function intuitively and feel naturally right.
