Discreet lighting

Aertssen Logistics

A futuristic building that gives the impression of a modern boat, in an industrial environment. A unique contrast. The chosen lighting system is as unique as the building itself. It is so powerful that it was used for most of the interior for various ceiling heights up to over five metres. A further requirement was that no lighting fixtures should be visible from the outside through the transparent façade.

Visualising corporate values

Upon stepping into Belgian company Aertssen's entrance hall, customers and visitors immediately understand the family business's values. Authentic materials like wood, natural stone, warm colours, perfect lighting, and historical images visualise the company's values: quality, reliability, and passion. Interior designer Eef Debeuf conveyed warmth and quality in an industrial environment thanks to the lighting concept and clever interior design.

Discreet general lighting

No light sources should be visible through the transparent façade; nothing should distract from the building's beautiful form. The requirement was to choose a luminaire that was small, beautiful, and yet met the demands for high-quality light in an office environment. In addition, the desire was to use one and the same luminaire to create unity between the areas on the different floors. The UNICO downlight was the solution, meeting all the requirements: It is almost invisible and so powerful that UNICO was used for different ceiling levels such as the entrance hall with a height of more than five metres and for the general offices.

Setting highlights

In office zones and meeting rooms, lighting fixtures have to be discreet. The focus is on the quality of light. Light should not be distracting in these areas. In the café corners and lounge zones, however, decorative lighting was chosen to define areas for relaxation. Employees should feel a different atmosphere in the areas where they take their breaks. XAL's MINO luminaire helps enhance this feeling. On the CEO floor and in the meeting rooms, black MOVE IT tracks with spotlights were used in addition to UNICO.

One luminaire, different versions

UNICO boasts different shapes and light insets and could therefore be used in all areas. The square version with nine insets in the highly glare-reduced version (UGR < 19) was used above desks. UNICO also owes its possible applications to its sleek, unobtrusive design. The luminaire itself takes a step back, perfectly accentuating the surrounding architecture. UNICO's recessed variant disappears almost entirely into the ceiling.

"As interior designers, our job is to craft an environment that makes people comfortable. Lighting in particular plays a major role in this."

Flashlight

I am always inspired by the people I work for and the way they interact. At the beginning of a new project, I always listen carefully to my clients' needs. That means I try to unterstand those needs. When it comes to company, I want to know what they do, what they stand for. I also draw inspiration from my own experiences. What feeling do I get from certain materials, atmospheres, places I have visited.
