Recessed spotlights

Discreet luminaires deliver maximum design freedom. XAL’s recessed spotlights are popular classics in lighting design. They are set into the ceiling in a particularly inconspicuous way but—depending on the design—remain adjustable. Swiveling LED recessed spotlights can be realigned even after installation.

Flexible lighting with pinpoint accuracy

Round or angular recessed spotlights, trimless or framed—XAL offers a wide range of recessed spotlight variants. Different beam angles and swiveling spotlights make it possible to adapt the light precisely to each situation and to highlight specific areas or objects such as products or exhibits.

As the spotlights are fully recessed into the ceiling, they remain almost invisible—especially trimless versions, which integrate seamlessly into the ceiling surface. Recessed spotlights can be installed in drywall or concrete ceilings using dedicated installation housings. Thanks to partial pre-installation of the luminaire housing, the individual spotlights can be inserted at a later stage, for example after the ceiling has been painted. This protects the luminaires and simplifies replacement and maintenance. Mounting depth is also an important planning factor: because space in the ceiling cavity is often limited, XAL’s portfolio includes recessed spotlights with particularly shallow installation depths.

Recessed spotlights for conference rooms—the right lighting for high demands.

Recessed spotlights are the ideal solution wherever multiple requirements need to be met within a single space, especially in rooms used for different purposes with varying priorities.

This is particularly true for conference rooms. Lighting must provide general illumination while ensuring that people are clearly visible. At the same time, it needs to adapt to different usage scenarios, requiring different optics depending on the situation. The light must respond to presentation media such as projectors—for example through partial dimming, glare-free distribution, and the avoidance of disturbing shadows. Adequate brightness at the table surface is essential for reading and note-taking.

Swiveling recessed spotlights are especially well suited to these requirements, as they can be aligned and adjusted in multiple ways. Individual spotlights with different beam angles can be used to illuminate the conference table, the speaker, or the presentation wall—which can be lit for whiteboards or darkened for projections. Separate control options allow individual luminaires to be addressed independently. Dimmable recessed spotlights also help reduce energy consumption in daylight conditions.

UNICO: Agile all-rounder

UNICO is a recessed spotlight that offers almost unlimited freedom in lighting design. Its lighting characteristics can be configured individually. Choose from eight shapes, eleven optics, four color temperatures, and two sensor options to create countless combinations. UNICO covers a wide range of applications—from downlights to wallwashers, with round or angular light distributions. In addition to non-dimmable versions, DALI‑2 control is available. Up to three control channels can be assigned to a single address. Prefer both warm and cool white light? Dynamic Tunable White allows the color temperature to be adjusted from 2700 to 5000 K. Rarely has a single luminaire offered so much design freedom in professional lighting design. More about the product family.
